LASH FAQ

+ HOW DO I PREPARE FOR EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Your eyes should be makeup free for our session. Coming with makeup on or around the eyes can cut into the time our session takes as you will be asked to remove it.

If you wear waterproof mascara, please stop using it a week prior to your appointment. Waterproof mascara is concentrated in oil and leaves a residue on your lashes that affects the extension bond and causes premature shedding.

Check your current products and make sure you are not using anything that has or is oil based 48 hours prior to our session and going forwards. Oil based products eat away at the adhesive long-term and cause lashes to not adhere properly during our session.

+ CAN I HAVE LASH EXTENSIONS IF I WEAR GLASSES OR CONTACTS?

Yes! Eyelash extensions can be worn if you wear contacts or glasses. During our appointment I ask that you take them off.

+ WHEN WILL I NEED A LASH TOUCH UP?

To maintain your lashes I recommend every two-three weeks to clients. Going over this can result in you needing a full set.

+ CAN I WEAR MASCARA WITH EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Mascara is a no-go when it comes to eyelash extensions. Please have a look at our sets (Classic, Hybrid, Volume, Mega Volume) to determine which is closest to your dream lash. If you find you need more/less we can adjust the type of set you get for your next session.

Losing lashes faster than normal? Have a look through this list and you might find the culprit….

+ Some shampoo/conditioners (read ingredients, when rinsing keep AWAY from eyes!)

+ All OIL, GLYCOL, and oil products (read ingredients in EVERYTHING that comes into contact with your extensions; this stuff can be in many products including makeup and makeup removers)

+ Build up of product on your lashes PRIOR to application – waterproof mascara and makeup leaves lashes coated with residue for up to a week!

+ Makeup in general – less is best!

+ Eyeliner, especially, can make or break your extension life. It is recommended to purchase eyelash extension safe liner from my salon if you still feel a need to wear it – many don’t!

+ Mascara – just don’t.

+ Sunscreen

+ Crying – salty tears affect the adhesive. cleanse or rinse immediately after.

+ Oily skin and hair. If you’re a generally oily person, cleansing daily is recommended!

+ Sweat. cleanse or rinse immediately after.

+ Excessive heat – this doesn’t mean the hot Mexico sun. this means the inside of the oven when you open to pull out your freshly baked cookies or getting too close to a campfire. Not only can heat cause premature shedding but it can cause your lashes to straighten or even melt!

+ Not cleansing enough – dead skin cells, sweat, oils and other grossness will build up in your extensions and cause them to prematurely shed. Every other day for normal skin is recommended.

+ Rubbing lashes. You may do it in your sleep and not even realise. If you wake up with lashes all over your face…this is likely the cause. Wearing a 3d sleep mask may solve this issue!

+ Sleeping on your stomach. If your body just insists on sleeping this way I recommend a 3d sleep mask (available at my salon)

+ Pulling/tugging on lashes

+ Being too aggressive – this doesn’t just mean pulling! things like sticking your face directly in the shower and pulling a shirt roughly over your head can contribute. Treat those lashes like GOLD!

+ Touching lashes – your skin is oily! oil is BAD

+ Saunas, and steam. This includes steamy hot showers! Be mindful.

+ Tanning beds

+ Spray tans – especially 24 hours before or after application.

+ Chlorine or salt water pools – cleanse or rinse immediately after.

+ Hormonal issues

+ Cancer treatments
